I help individuals and couples navigate relationship struggles, betrayal trauma, sex addiction, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, grief and loss, and the general challenges that life throws at us by providing a supportive space where you can process your emotions, rebuild trust, and regain a sense of control. I will approach you with empathy, kindness and honesty. I will educate you on what you need to do to live the life you want…it’s up to you what you choose to take with you or leave behind. I will never judge your choices. Rather than focusing on what’s “wrong with you” I help you understand your experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and move toward healing. As I like to say, “I’ll light the path and help you find your way.”
Along with my academic and training credentials, I bring my own life experience to aid in working with your challenges.
I use an integrative, trauma informed approach, which may include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Gottman Method to name a few. I view each person as a unique individual and customize my therapeutic approach based on your specific challenges and needs. There is always an abundance of acceptance, empathy, and kindness from me. I believe in humour as well as tears within my therapeutic relationships.
My niche area of specialization is in compulsive sexual behaviour disorder and intimate betrayal trauma. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Certified Partner Trauma Therapist and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CSAT, CPTT, CMAT). I received my training from the renowned International Institute of Addiction and Trauma Professionals (IITAP) in Carefree, AZ.
Along with being a counselling psychologist; I love volunteering in my community, I have taught undergraduate psychology classes, I’m an author for mycalgary.com and Great West News (Mental Health Moment), I supervise and mentor other counsellors and provisional psychologists, I offer professional consultations with peers, and I participate in webinars, radio, and speaking engagements.
